How to Maintain Your Blowout At Home

We’ve rounded up some sure fire ways to keep those blowouts poppin’. There’s nothing worse than getting your hair done and then waking up the next day with a not so hot look. The following tips and tricks not only help to maintain your style but can also protect your hair from breakage and keep it shiny.

Silk Pillowcase

A silk pillowcase provides so many benefits other than maintaining your hair. Cotton pillow cases are known to pull the hair and cause frizz. The silk pillowcase not only reduces frizz but retains moisture in your hair and skin. In the case your bonnet or scarf falls off in the night, a silk pillowcase will still protect your hair through the night. You can find amazing quality silk pillowcases at Hair + Space!

Scarf/Bonnet

When you tie your hair up at night it is crucial to protect it with a scarf or bonnet. This will keep the edges and roots of your hair better protected from curling back and protect the shaft of the hair from damage. Finding the right scarf or bonnet is crucial! Pin Curls/Rollers

A classic way to maintain any blowout look. Pin curling your hair and securing it with a bobby pin will keep your curls tight for well over a week when done properly. The key is to secure it as best as possible while not altering the direction and turn of the curl. Rollers are an easier alternative when you want to maintain the body and volume of your blowout. This method will also require you to use a scarf to minimize frizz.

Wrap

Wrapping your hair is a skill but can be really effective at maintaining a straight look. Always start by brushing your hair either straight down or immediately in the direction of your wrap. Keep brushing your hair all around your head until you effectively create a look of “cap” and then take bobby pins to help secure it. This will keep it in place but of course we will wrap it with a scarf to add further protection.

Top knot

This has to be one of the easiest ways to maintain your blowout when you are sleeping. For our ladies with long hair or looking for a simple sleep routine, a top knot is the perfect technique for you! It will preserve any curls and keep everything smooth and straight. Find the direction of your curls and wrap them into a bun. You can do this multiple times throughout your hair if you want to keep your curls tighter. Always finish it with your scarf or silk pillowcase!
